Tennis

But we have a really great team...ALWAYS!

Nostalgia
Found some old stuff in the closet...
『日本から、五さいになるちょとまえ、でました。ミシガン・しゅうの、アンドルースユニバーシティーに、九年すみました。学校は、ルースモダタでした。アメリカには、中学校はなくて、小学校が、よぅちえんから八年せいまであります。アメリカの学校は、ずいぶんたのしいです。私は、七年のときしかいませんでした。学校は、八月のおわりにはじまって、五月のおわりにおわります。なつのあいだは、たのしいですけど、学校にかいりたいな、とかんがえます。だけど、日本のなつやすは、あんまり長くないので、かんがえるじかんがないとおもいます。アメリカでは、スピーリット・ワィークが、一年のおわりにあります。スピーリット・ワィークは、ずいぶんたのしいです。一しゅうかんのあいだに、六十だいのようふくきたり、学校にパジァマをきたりします。ミスターボーガていうせんせいは、パジァマの日に、あおいパジァマをきて、かみもばさばさで、スリッパーをはいて学校にきてました。ミスターボーガは、私の一ばんすきな、アメリカにいたときのせんせいです。』

My teacher gave me an A.
Despite all the mistakes.
She even wrote a comment all in hiragana
so I could actually read it.
I remember she was really nice.
So was my social studies teacher.
Who always tried to get me to understand
all the wars and politics in Japanese history.
He was so sweet.
I remember nodding as if I understood
when in fact I had no idea what he was saying.

Ariake
Ariake.
One of my favorite places.
I love how everything is so big and open.
Tennis.
Love watching the players.
Not quite sure what a tie-breaker is yet.
Center Court.
Love the sound of silence.
But adore the crowds that fill the stands.
